- Bebop (2nd/3rd) Math: The bebop math class continues to amaze me with how hard they work and how much they want to learn. We worked with open ended number lines the other day and it was fun to see everyone’s different interpretations of a number line.
- Hodag (4th-8th) Math: Hodag math students are all wrapping up their units before spring break. Next Thursday is pi day (3.14) and we have fun activities planned for this special day. Obviously there will be some round objects to eat.
- Health Class
- The younger students: The last two days of health class the students have been making a poster encouraging people to not smoke. We have emphasized that the easiest way to stop smoking is to never start in the first place. The students are pretty passionate about not wanting to smoke.
- The older students: Health class is going well. We only have two more classes before we change back to PE after spring break. On Tuesday “Lines for Life”, the suicide help line will come and talk to the students.

- K/1 Math class: Students worked on doing some assessments, working on portfolio pages, and sorting through their star work folder to prepare for conferences. See picture of students working together to solve problems they did in their portfolios.
- K-3 Science: Students have been learning how to compare modern bones with fossils to understand how paleoartists decide what ancient animals looked like. See pictures of students comparing bones to compare modern bone and dinosaur bones.

- Mr. B’s K/1 Literacy: Students are working on a story involving many weather words. They are practicing breaking these words into their sound parts and making great progress!
- Mr. B’s Bebop Literacy: Students are getting hungry from all the yummy foods described in Jalapeño Bagels and are making big strides working through vowel pairs, vowel digraphs, and diphthongs!
-
Mr. B’s Art Literacy class: Hodags collected their work from the past two months and compiled it into a singular composition. The K-3 group continued working with oil pastels and perfecting the most scrumptious looking ice cream!

Looking forward to seeing everyone at conferences. The students will be off for 4 days before they return for one final week of our winter season. Hopefully we can finish strong before a much deserved break.
- Humanities class: We are wrapping up our unit on the Oregon Trail and pioneers. Students started working on a final essay this week about the challenges the pioneers faced. They need to finish this essay next week before they head off to Spring Break. So far they are all off to a good start on this challenging assignment.
- Field Studies: We finished up our unit on Climate Change last week and started a new unit on Monday called Microbiology. We will get out microscopes this week and start exploring the microscopic world around us.
